Life on Mars is very likely

HighlightVittorio Formisano, the head of research at Italy’s Institute of Physics and Interplanetary Space, presented measures at the European Space Research and Technology Centre that suggest life on Mars is very likely:

“There are three possible scenarios to explain the [huge] quantities [of formaldehyde in the Marsian atmosphere]: chemistry at the surface, caused by solar radiation; chemistry deep in the planet, caused by geothermal or hydrothermal activity; or life.”

And there is no known geological source of formaldehyde on Mars.
