IBM report lauds benefits of Linux
Amusing — As an answer to Microsoft's perpetual Get the facts campaign, IBM produced a white paper that suggests Linux has a much lower total cost of ownership than Windows.
I normally find this debate somewhat sterile, but I found that this piece from Scott Handy, the vice president of Worldwide Linux for IBM, was definitely worth highlighting:
We get a lot of requests from customers for research that gives them the other side, the Linux point of view. (via eWeek)
Sounds like: It doesn't matter what the facts really are, it's just that we've got IT execs — paying customers, mind you! — who need credible looking pieces of data to justify their choices to board members.
